comedy = tragedy + distance
A quick recap: egg yolk, oil, dishes, cereal, hanging mannequin head, no keys, no electricity, fever, no voice, bedbugs
But we’ve found new homes so BRING ON THE DISTANCE

breaking the rules
When I walked home tonight at two in the morning, it had been snowing lightly for a couple hours and the sidewalks were indistinguishable from the streets except that they were a little higher, but everything was white so I walked in the middle of the road and made designs with my footprints.

Emily Turner Photography →
My long-time roommate and good friend, Emily, has recently completed a 365 blog in which she took a different picture everyday for a whole year, starting January 1, 2010. This is her latest blog, combining those photos with many more that she’s taken over the years. Her photography is eclectic, creative and inspired. There are a lot of photos, but I recommend to anyone reading this to take...

fake it till you make it
After years of going undercover as an old woman to get into bars illegally, Jess has finally earned the right to drink under the eyes of the law in her true identity as 21 year old Jessica Kierson/Queerson/Rabbit. Needless to say I had a long drunken weekend, starting at around midnight on Thursday night at Poco, a popular local brunch party, and ending today in my apartment, on my couch,...

soul mates
I think everyone’s got it wrong anyway, and the true phrase is “sole mate,” since everyone seems to be looking for “the one” and what does soul have to do with it anyway? But still, Sasha read me this passage when she was reading Eat Pray Love many years ago, and now I read it to you, or rather you can read it to yourself:
“Your problem is you don’t...

on makeup and other facts of life
I stopped wearing makeup during my second semester of college. I also stopped straightening my hair and cut back on my drinking, not that I ever heavily drank. My reason for cutting back on the drinking was that I didn’t want to rely on alcohol to have a good time. I wanted to be learn how to be comfortable in social situations on my own. The makeup/hair thing was for a similar...
A miracle
Today I was in class and I decided to speak my mind because teachers like when you participate. I was raising my hand every few minutes until I started thinking: Am I dumb? How do you know if what you’re saying is dumb? How do you know if you’re that kid that keeps offering up an opinion or a thought while everyone else is groaning and thinking ‘Oh my goooooood, stop taaaaalking,...

Second week of classes and they’re going well so far. I liked all of them right away, so obviously I switched out of two of them to be in two others that I like even more! Actually I don’t know because I haven’t been to them yet, but the anticipation is overwhelmingly sweet. Or is it? Also, we are cat-sitting a cat named Sugar. She made herself at home very quickly, inviting...
Il bel far niente
“Generally speaking, though, Americans have an inability to relax into sheer pleasure. Ours is an entertainment-seeking nation, but not necessarily a pleasure-seeking one. Americans spend billions to keep themselves amused with everything from porn to theme parks to wars, but that’s not exactly the same thing as quiet enjoyment. Americans work harder and longer and more stressful hours...

how to be fashionable by sarah samuel
Last night a strange boy walked past me and said:
“I love you’re outfit! You’re killing it!”
I think that’s the first time someone I don’t know has complimented my outfit.

Thank god I just bought those new poker chips, because last night I went to a casino with my grandma and played poker at a real table for the very first time! I lost $30 so obviously I’m going back tonight… Also, I won $11 at the slot machines but then I lost it…
How do you know when you have a problem? Big Bucks here I come!
Surely you can't be serious.
Yesterday morning was a morning like any other. I woke up…actually, scratch that. Thursday morning was a morning like any other. I woke up, got dressed, did some things, and went out. At 4 am I got on the J train to head to JFK for my 7:00 flight to LAX. As I was walking to the subway with a backpack on my back and a duffle bag swung over my shoulder, I thought to myself: Why didn’t I...

This is the kind of bird I used to have and also why I want to have a bird in the future.
kskill:
Bird feels bad for dorky owner, learns 20 tricks just to humor him.
Also, birds.

haircat
Today I went to Kropps and Bobbers to get a haircut. There was a little black kitten running around the salon so I said to my hairdresser:
“where did you guys get a cat?” and he said back to me:
“Joni is fostering it. Do you want it?” so I said:
“duh”
and I took Jessica and Annie to see it and they fell in love and we want her to hang out with us forever....
Day 5/5 No Sugar Part II
I ate banana bread and my hair is almost straight. Not because of eating the banana bread. Separate incidents. Also yesterday I tried to create a Second Life account but I got frustrated.
